Fogo: Santa Catarina City Hall postpones cultural and sports activities from May 13 until after elections

São Filipe, May 08 (Inforpress) – The Santa Catarina do Fogo City Hall announced today the postponement of cultural and sports activities initially scheduled for May 13, patron saint day of Roçadas, to May 20-24.

The decision, according to a statement from the Santa Catarina do Fogo municipality, was taken in coordination with the religious community and the National Police, taking into account the current electoral period and the need to safeguard the population’s security, stability and well-being.

According to the municipality, after dialogue among the entities involved, it was concluded that postponing the activities would be the most appropriate measure to avoid constraints and ensure better organisational and security conditions during the initiatives.

The municipality further clarified that activities scheduled by the Catholic Church will remain on the originally planned date, May 13, dedicated to Our Lady of Fátima, patron saint of the locality of Roçadas, while the sports and cultural initiatives promoted by the municipality are postponed to the week of May 20-24, after the electoral period.
