Bons Amigos warn of accidental poisoning of dogs and cats caused by rat poison

Praia, Apr 29 (Inforpress) – The Bons Amigos Association indicated today that many cases of poisoning of dogs and cats occur accidentally due to the use of poisons to combat rat infestations, particularly on the island of Santiago.

These statements were made to Inforpress by the association’s representative, Madueno Cardoso, as part of a neutering campaign being promoted in the Terra Branca neighbourhood and surrounding areas of Praia.

According to the same source, the increase in rat infestation in recent months has led many families to resort to purchasing and using poisons, which end up posing risks to domestic animals.

“As you may have heard in recent months, there have been many rats here in Praia and in the interior of Santiago. People have been selling and buying a lot of poison to kill rats, which unintentionally ends up killing dogs and cats,” he said.
