PAICV/Sal: Majority of the Regional Political Commission contests national decision on head of list

City of Espargos, 09 Mar (Inforpress) – The majority of the Regional Political Commission of Sal accused the National Directorate this Saturday of “disrespecting” the statutes and “ignoring” the will of party members in the selection of the “head” of the list for the upcoming legislative elections.

The discontent arises after the National Political Commission (CPN) approved a head of the list for the legislative elections different from the name indicated by the local structure of Sal.

This dissatisfaction was expressed at a press conference, where the group, through Josiano Nereu, described the decision as a disregard for the statutes and the party’s internal democracy.

According to the signatories of the statement, signed by 11 representatives from various party bodies on the island, the CPR met on 04 March and unanimously decided to propose the name of Démis Lobo Almeida for the position.
