
Porto Inglês, 06 Mar (Inforpress) – The festivities of Saint Joseph in Vila da Calheta, on the island of Maio, take place throughout the month of March with fairs, cultural activities, traditional music, batuco and sporting events, mobilising the local community and emigrants.
The festive programme, which began at the start of March, continues on the 7th of this month with a handicrafts fair, an initiative intended to promote local products and encourage community involvement in the celebrations.
On the 8th, a cultural activity alluding to International Women’s Day will take place, while on the 13th a batuque circle with local groups is scheduled.
The programme continues on the 14th with the holding of a community health and agricultural fair and, in the evening, a mini-festival on Rua São José, which includes a tribute to the group “Os Tavares”.
