Cova Figueira, 06 Mar (Inforpress) – A fire that broke out on Thursday afternoon in the locality of Mato d’Orin, near the city of Cova Figueira, municipality of Santa Catarina, mobilised several intervention teams to fight the flames.
According to information released by the municipality of Santa Catarina do Fogo through its official page, preliminary causes point to a possible short-circuit in a high-voltage pole as the origin of the incident.
Present at the scene were the president of the Santa Catarina do Fogo Municipal Council, Manuel Teixeira, who holds the Civil Protection portfolio, accompanied by municipal staff, members of the Municipal Fire Brigade, agents of the National Police and several civilians who joined efforts to control the situation.
Due to the strong wind intensity felt in the area, the municipality was forced to request reinforcement from the fire brigades of the neighbouring municipalities of São Filipe and Mosteiros as a preventive measure to prevent the spread of the flames to adjacent areas.
