Tomar, 04 Mar (Inforpress) – The Polytechnic Institute of Tomar today held a tribute session for the Cape Verdean lecturer Manuel Chantre on the day he turned 91, in recognition of his contribution to the development and consolidation of that Portuguese higher education institution.

The medal of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar (IPT) was presented by the president of the institution, João Coroado, to the honouree’s son João Chantre, on the sidelines of the international conference “Migrations: integration and public services in the digital era”, which had been taking place since Tuesday, the 3rd, at the Dr. José Bayolo Pacheco de Amorim Auditorium, on the Tomar campus.

In statements to Inforpress, João Chantre said he was moved by the recognition of his father’s academic trajectory and his contribution, as a lecturer, to the development and consolidation of the Higher School of Management of Tomar, of which he served as director, and of the local academic community.

“In everyday life, the relationship is family-based. But when we see that the people who lived with him over the years, in the various facets of life, show this sympathy and recognise the work and contribution provided, we naturally feel proud on behalf of the family,” he stated.
