Cabo Verde hosts SEACOP VI Seminar to strengthen international cooperation in combating illicit maritime trafficking
24/02/26 - 01:22 pm

Cidade da Praia, Feb 24 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde is hosting, from today until February 26, the SEACOP VI seminar, an international initiative aimed at strengthening regional and transatlantic cooperation in combating maritime drug trafficking, smuggling and associated criminal networks.

The meeting seeks to deepen the sharing of information, investigative strategies and the coordination of joint operations.

At the opening session, the national director of the Judicial Police, Manuel da Lomba, highlighted the country’s geostrategic importance, noting that its maritime territory is approximately 82 times larger than its land territory, making Cabo Verde vulnerable to illicit flows of drugs, smuggling and human trafficking.

“International cooperation is essential to protect this asset and to respond to transnational crime,” he stated.
