Mindelo, Feb 10 (Inforpress) – The state of calamity on the island of São Vicente will end on 13 February, but emergency assistance has not reached all families affected by storm Erin, the UCID denounced today.

The complaint by the Independent and Democratic Cabo Verdean Union (UCID, opposition) was made at a press conference by MP Dora Pires.

“On the 11th, six months will have passed since the rains of 11 August, and the state of calamity is coming to an end. And we ask: did emergency support reach everyone? No, unfortunately not,” she criticised.

According to the MP, in Praça Estrela, an area where several traders were affected, “perhaps not even a quarter of the people received support”.
