Praia City, Feb 02 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde’s historical and cultural heritage is “interesting and full of surprises,” but research is not produced to be stored away, rather to be “disseminated and shared,” said university professor Wladzimierz Szymaniak today.
“We are always discovering new things, but unfortunately, or fortunately for researchers, many monuments are in poor condition and require assessments and enhancement. Within the scope of the CULTIVAR project, which involves several universities from Europe and Africa, including Cabo Verde, we visited the Fortim in São Vicente, with a spectacular location, but which is completely abandoned,” he said, expressing sadness over the “abandonment and vandalism.”
The professor from Jean Piaget University of Cabo Verde, speaking to the press on the sidelines of the Training Workshop: Interdisciplinary Cultural Projects & Focus Group with Stakeholders, taking place from the 2nd to the 4th at the UniPiaget amphitheatre, explained that the most relevant areas in this field are maritime, coastal and underwater landscapes.
Describing CULTIVAR as an international program involving several universities from Europe and Africa, including Cape Verde, Wladzimierz Szymaniak explained that this is the fourth workshop held under the project, which is currently in the consolidation phase and focused on heritage and cultural legacy.
