
Porto Inglês, Jan 30 (Inforpress) – The Municipal Assembly of Maio today swore in the new members of the island’s Electoral Registration Commission (CRE), renewing for the first time in two decades the body responsible for managing the electoral register.
The new commission will be chaired by Elisângela da Silva, with António Sequeira and Nuno Agues serving as members.
In her inaugural address, Elisângela da Silva pledged to conduct her mandate in accordance with the principles of “transparency, impartiality and rigor,” ensuring that the electoral process is carried out in “strict compliance with the Electoral Code.”
“This moment marks the commitment of all of us to democracy, transparency and justice in the conduct of the electoral process that is now beginning,” said the new chairwoman, stressing that technical rigor will be the foundation for ensuring secure and credible processes.
