Porto Novo: Former Fumigation Centre to Be Allocated to Higher Education in Santo Antão – Minister

Porto Novo, Jan 30 (Inforpress) – The former fumigation centre in Porto Novo, decommissioned six months ago, will be transferred “within days” to the Atlantic Technical University (UTA), to serve the university campus in Santo Antão.

The information was announced by the Minister of Education, Amadeu Cruz, at the conclusion of a visit to Santo Antão, where he chaired an expanded council meeting of the ministry held between January 27 and 29 in the city of Porto Novo.

Amadeu Cruz explained that the former fumigation centre will be transferred to UTA “to create greater sustainability for higher education in Santo Antão,” and will serve the Institute of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies, headquartered on the island.

The Minister of Agriculture and Environment had previously assured Parliament that the former Porto Novo fumigation centre would be “properly utilized” by the Government, which intended to give the infrastructure, built in 2010, “a different use.”
