Minister of Culture Announces New Literary Awards for 2026

Praia, Jan 29 (Inforpress) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Augusto Veiga, announced today that new literary awards in various fields will soon be introduced, with the aim of valuing literature and attracting new talents as well as established writers.

The minister was speaking to the press at the opening of the international conference on “The Book and Freedom of Expression”, promoted by Livraria Pedro Cardoso in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries, as part of the celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Freedom and Democracy Day, observed on January 13.

“We will announce, in the second week of February, new literary awards created by the Ministry of Culture for various areas of literature,” he said.

According to Augusto Veiga, the idea is to create four literary awards in Cabo Verde aimed at enhancing literary production and attracting both new authors and already established writers.
