Praia, Jan 15 (Inforpress) – The leader of the UCID, João Santos Luís, is the first to be heard today by the President of the Republic regarding the scheduling of the legislative elections, which are expected to take place this year between April and June.

On Friday, the 16th, according to information obtained by Inforpress, José Maria Neves will continue to hear party leaders. These hearings precede the setting of the date for the legislative elections, an act that falls under the authority of the Head of State.

Subsequently, the Constitution of the Republic provides for the consultation of the Council of the Republic, whose meeting is scheduled for the 19th.

The hearing with the president of the Independent and Democratic Cape Verdean Union (UCID, opposition) will take place this afternoon via the Zoom platform, from the Palace of the People, given that the Head of State is on an official mission to the island of São Vicente, while João Santos Luís is currently in the city of Praia.
