Antonino Veiga launches first literary work “The Journey of the Boy Rumibe”

Praia, 18 December (Inforpress) – Cape Verdean author Antonino Veiga on Wednesday presented his first literary work, “The Journey of the Boy Rumibe”, at the National Library.

The book explores narrative memories, social and family values, as well as historical, anthropological and social aspects of Cabo Verde.

Speaking to Inforpress, Veiga, a dentist by profession, said the work follows the chronological journey of the protagonist, Rumibe, and is structured into five chapters divided into three interconnected parts designed to sustain the reader’s engagement.

The book, comprising around 190 pages, is described by the author as eclectic and accessible to a wide range of age groups, allowing for different interpretations.

It offers a careful analysis of Cape Verdean society in the pre- and post-independence periods, highlighting significant social and economic changes, including the growing presence of the State in communities and the phenomenon of emigration.
