Praia City, Dec 11 (Inforpress) – The president of the Cape Verdean Society of Authors (Soca) said today that the Statute of the Creative and Cultural Arts Professional is “very important and meaningful” for the artistic community — “a real added value” for the organisation.
Daniel Spínola, speaking to Inforpress about the statute approved Wednesday during parliamentary debate, said the document represents “a significant step forward” for the country’s artistic and cultural sector.
“It is something very important for authors and artists, who will now have the opportunity to register, obtain an identification card, and work formally in accordance with labour regulations,” he noted.
He recalled that the association took part in the consultation process promoted by the Ministry of Culture and issued a favourable opinion, considering that the statute responds to long-identified needs within the sector.
