Carnival: Ministry of Culture Advances 50% of Financial Support to Praia’s Official Groups

Praia City, Nov 10 (Inforpress) – The Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries signed today a financial support protocol with the four official Carnival groups of Praia, guaranteeing a 50% advance of the amount allocated for the 2026 parade preparations.

The total amount is 860 contos, with each group receiving 430 contos and a trip to Dakar or Lisbon to continue preparations for the 2026 Carnival.

According to the Minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Augusto Veiga, the amount represents an increase of over 20% compared to 2025 and more than 50% compared to 2024.

He added that the decision to advance the funds was motivated by the difficulties groups face due to the proximity of the Carnival date to the start of the fiscal year.
