Maio is proving to be a holiday destination, but transport continues to generate distrust – operators

Porto Inglês, July 22 (Inforpress) – The island of Maio has proven to be an attractive destination for weekends and holidays, especially for visitors from the neighboring island of Santiago, but unreliable transport links continue to be an obstacle for local tourism.

After nearly three months of irregular maritime connections, the island now has five weekly trips to Santiago, which has contributed to an increase in the flow of national visitors in recent days.

However, according to tour operators contacted by Inforpress, this increase does not yet represent improvements for the sector, as the failures recorded previously have left consequences.

Both international and local tourists have expressed concern about visiting the island due to the "negative repercussions" of the recent lack of connectivity, as well as the recent cancellations of TACV flights to the island.
