Mindelo, Jul 15 (Inforpress) - The São Vicente health precinct will train 300 young people in the coming weeks to work on health promotion and anti-vector campaigns in the island's communities, health delegate Elísio Silva announced today.
This information was given to the press by São Vicente's health delegate at the presentation of the Contingency Plan to Prevent and Mitigate the Potential Risk of Dengue Spread and Reintroduction of Malaria.
"We want to create young health promoters at community level. When we talk about young health promoters, it's directly about the fight against the vector, in which we give them training and in their respective communities they can inform the population and identify the source of transmission of mosquito breeders on the island," he explained.
According to the delegate, these young people will be chosen through partners such as non-governmental organisations, religious bodies and sports associations.
