National Directorate of Education reinforces that enrolment in public schools is totally free

Praia, Jul 14 (Inforpress) - The National Directorate of Education (DNE) today reinforced that the enrolment of pupils in public schools is totally free, as established in the legislation in force and in the guidelines of the Ministry of Education.

In a statement, the DNE explained that this principle of free enrolment covers all stages of the enrolment process, including renewal and the entry of new students, and that it is forbidden to charge any fee as a condition for accessing or maintaining a student in the public education system.

Thats why he took the opportunity to call on school boards to ensure strict compliance with

this rule and to take all the necessary measures to properly inform parents of this right.

‘Any voluntary contributions to parents' and guardians associations or other school initiativesmust not, under any circumstances, be confused with or imposed as enrolment fees,’ he

warned.
