
Praia, Jul 14 (Inforpress) - The Secretary of State for Finance said today that the government intends to position the Ministry of Finance as a model of institutional leadership with regard to gender mainstreaming in public administration.
Alcindo Mota made these remarks on the sidelines of the opening of the three-day training course to implement the Gender Equality Seal for Public Institutions, organised by the Ministry of Finance with the support of the Pro PALOP-TL Programme, co-financed by the European Union and implemented by the UNDP.
Mota considered the implementation of the Gender Equality Seal to be a ‘fundamental’ pillar for sustainable development, good governance and efficient use of public resources.
According to the minister, the aim of this process, which begins today with the training oftechnicians and managers from the Ministry of Finance and representatives from ICIEG, is to transform the way public policies are planned, budgeted and evaluated, ensuring that thespecific needs of women and men are fully taken into account.
