Porto Novo local authority praises results achieved by Santo Antão's athletics team

Porto Novo, Jul 14 (Inforpress) – Today, The City Council of Porto Novo welcomed the fact that the Santo Antão athletics team has won the national track and field championship for the second consecutive season.

In a statement sent to Inforpress, the Porto Novo council emphasised the ‘great achievement’ of the Santo Antão athletics team which, according to the municipality, ‘once again made history by winning the national track and field championship for the second year running’.

‘After breaking the 11-year hegemony of the Sal Island team last year, our team has once again shown its strength, dedication and talent, once again securing the title in both the junior and senior men's and women's categories,’ said the same source.

The national track and field championships, held in the city of Praia, revealed new names and reinforced the hegemony of Santo Antão, which once again lifted several trophies despite not having an athletics track.
