Parliament: MpD highlights “consistent increase” in per capita income and “maturity in the development model”

Praia, Jul 11 (Inforpress) - Isa Miranda, the deputy of MpD said today that the ‘consistent increase’ in per capita income and the ‘maturity of Cabo Verde's development model’ are the fruit of the ‘seeds planted by the party’ since the 90s.

The MP from the Movement for Democracy (MpD, the ruling party) made this statement in a political declaration on Cabo Verde's graduation to a middle/high income country, on the third day of the first plenary session of July.

For the MP, this is international recognition of ‘decades of hard work, courageous political decisions and the commitment to a modern economic vision’, which began to germinate in the 1990s with the opening up of markets, inspired by the MpD's programme matrix.

‘It was the MpD that, in its political programme, defended and implemented a system of economic democracy, where economic agents, namely public, private and associative, coexist in conditions of competition and equality,’ he recalled, considering that it was this vision that established direct state action in the Cape Verdean economy.
