President of ICCA calls for ‘coordinated action’ to prevent and eradicate child labour

Praia, Apr 2 (Inforpress) - Today, the president of ICCA defended the need for ‘great unity of effort and coordinated and joint action’ by all civil society actors in the prevention and eradication of child labour in Cabo Verde.

Zaida de Freitas made these statements to the press on the sidelines of the socialisation workshop for the 2nd National Action Plan for the Prevention and Eradication of Child Labour, held in the city of Praia.

According to the president of the Cape Verdean Institute for Children and Adolescents (ICCA), child labor is a cross-cutting issue that requires the involvement of all stakeholders in civil society.

He stressed that Cabo Verde does not have “very worrying” data in relation to other countries, especially those on the African continent regarding child labor, “but it has weaknesses” and “everyone has to be very vigilant”.
