Nova Sintra, 9 September (Inforpress) – Fishermen and fishmongers from Lomba Tantum, on the island of Brava, said today that the cable car service is a vital asset for the sale and transport of fish, but called for regular maintenance of the equipment.
Speaking to the media, Irma, a fishmonger and resident of Lomba, said that the cable car breakdowns represent “a major problem”, particularly due to the high costs of alternative transport.
As she explained, when the equipment is out of order, the fishmongers have to hire porters to transport the fish, paying around 700 escudos for each 20-kilo journey.
“At the moment, the equipment is up and running, and we are pleased because it brings us advantages: we pay less, and everyone wins," he noted.
