Electricity rates will remain unchanged until the end of the year thanks to government support

Praia City, September 2 (Inforpress) - Electricity rates charged in August will remain unchanged until December 31, 2026 throughout the country, following the extension of government mitigation measures, the regulatory body announced today.

In a statement, the Multissectoral Regulatory Agency for the Economy (ARME) explained that beneficiaries of the Social Electricity Tariff will continue to receive a discount corresponding to 100 percent (%) of the tariff increase, thus maintaining the amounts currently paid unchanged.

For the remaining consumer categories, according to the same source, the rates applied in August will also remain in effect until the end of the year, subject to a discount equivalent to 70% of the increase resulting from the tariff update carried out by the regulatory entity.

The measure is contained in Joint Order No. 59/2026, of August 31, from the members of the Government responsible for the areas of Finance and Energy, published in the Official Gazette No. 166, Series II, of September 1.
