Basketball: ABC defeats Académica do Mindelo and is crowned champion of Cabo Verde

Praia City, August 24 (Inforpress) – The ABC team from Santiago Sul won this Sunday against Académica do Mindelo by 82-66 in the final held at the Vavá Duarte pavilion and was crowned champion of Cabo Verde in senior men's basketball.

Playing in front of their home crowd, the team from Praia won the final despite strong resistance from the visiting side, with set scores of 26–14, 15–15, 23–22 and 18–15.

With this achievement, ABC is crowned champion of Cabo Verde with a perfect record in all games of the national championship and succeeds Real Sociedade, from São Vicente, as winner of the Cabo Verde championship for the 2025/2026 season.

The competition brought together in Group A the teams of ABC, Académica do Mindelo, Liprobasket do Porto Novo and Atlético Clube Tarrafal, while Group B included the former national champion Real Sociedade de São Vicente, Pantera Negra do Sal and Unidos do Norte, from the island of Fogo.
