Porto Novo: Tarrafal de Monte Trigo and Cruzinha receive biomonitoring as part of the PaMAR project

Porto Novo, August 19 (Inforpress) – The environmental association TerriMar announced today that a team has been carrying out biomonitoring activities in recent days in Tarrafal de Monte Trigo and Cruzinha, in Santo Antão, as part of the PaMAR project.

TerriMar reported that the activities were supported by the Biosphere Cabo Verde team and included collaboration from a diver from Ponta do Sol and local fishermen.

The biomonitoring work, explained a note from Terrimar, allowed the placement of baited underwater remote video systems at selected strategic points and the carrying out of dives to survey the substrate and fish communities.

According to the same source, these actions are fundamental to better understanding local marine biodiversity, assessing the conservation status of habitats, and supporting the effective management of marine protected areas.
