
Praia, 30 July (Inforpress) – The president of Iprodial today called for the adoption of sustainable public measures and policies in the area of social security, urging the Government and the social partners to deepen the debate on the challenges facing the system in Cabo Verde.
The appeal was made by Júlio Ascenção Silva during the public session to present the conclusions and recommendations of the 3rd Forum of the Institute for the Promotion of Social Dialogue and Trade Union Freedom (Iprodial), held on 19 December 2025, in Mindelo, under the theme ‘Sustainability of Social Security in Cabo Verde’ and the motto ‘For a sustainable social security system that protects the insured and pensioners’.
According to Júlio Ascenção Silva, the aim of the forum and the public session is to provide social, institutional and technical stakeholders with a forum for multi-sectoral dialogue, with a view to conducting a critical and constructive analysis of the sustainability of social security, with a particular focus on the legal framework of the National Social Security Institute (INPS).
The aim is also to raise awareness amongst both policy-makers and the social partners of the need to adopt sustainable policies in the sector.
