Praia, July 15 (Inforpress) - Young Africans must assume a central role in the continent's decision-making bodies and political power, the president of the World Organization of African Youth (WOY) said today in Praia.

“Our aim is to include all young people and to be at the heart of decision-making in parliament, and to fight for that central role,” Silvano Bernardo told Inforpress, shortly after his meeting with the National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship (CNDHC), as part of his first six-day official visit to Cabo Verde.

Silvano Bernardo revealed that the meeting with the CNDHC was strategic for the final stages of the institution's main guiding document.

“This meeting will influence our projects, and we are in the final stages of our Youth Pact for the Development of the Continent,” he announced, describing the meeting as “a great achievement” that brings “a clear understanding of the challenges” the continent faces in terms of human rights.
