Praia, 30 June (Inforpress) – The Cape Verdean Basketball Federation (FCBB) launched a coaching course and a training camp for young athletes today in Praia, as part of a strategy to strengthen the sport’s foundations in the country.
The initiative, which runs until 2 July at the Vavá Duarte Sports Hall, is being led by four coaches from the Manresa Foundation in Catalonia (Spain).
The event is the result of a partnership between the FCBB, the Spanish foundation, the Spanish Basketball Federation and the Institute for Sport and Youth (IDJ), bringing together around 70 participants – boys and girls aged between 10 and 17.
Speaking to the press, the chairman of the FCBB General Assembly, Gil Évora, explained that developing human resources is a priority, particularly at Under-16 and Under-18 level, where the country still faces chronic technical weaknesses.
