Praia, 24 June (Inforpress) – The executive director of the Pedro Pires Institute for Leadership (IPP), Indira Pires, argued today that investing in staff training and human capital is the best investment Cabo Verde can make to ensure its development.
Indira Pires made these remarks to Inforpress in the context of the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Pedro Pires Institute and the National Association of Municipalities of Cabo Verde (ANMCV), which aims to empower and train municipal personnel, including local elected officials, with a view to improving public management, local leadership and the development of essential skills for the performance of public functions.
It also aims to strengthen skills in areas considered strategic for good local governance, with particular emphasis on leadership, financial management, land planning and other matters related to the functioning of local government.
She explained that, as a first step, the IPP and the ANMCV are carrying out a survey of the training needs of local authorities, in order to tailor the content to the specific circumstances and challenges of each local authority.
