Praia, June 24 (Inforpress) - The president of the Cape Verdean Association for the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence (ACLCVBG), Vicenta Fernandes, today advocated in Praia for strengthening prevention and social mobilization to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The official was speaking at the opening of the 8th Week of Reflection on Gender-Based Violence, an event taking place under the motto "Equality is Everyone's Responsibility".
According to the leader, this year the association decided to focus the debates on violence in institutional contexts, namely in politics, sports, workplaces and health services, considering that these forms of violence remain underreported and insufficiently discussed in the country.
“We need to talk about and combat this situation. Often people don't know they are facing a case of violence, they don't report it, they don't ask for help, and they end up without any response,” the leader stated.
