Fogo: The island welcomes students from the international master’s programme in humanitarian response as part of the International Summer School

São Filipe, June 24 (Inforpress) – An international delegation arrived today on Fogo Island as part of the Master's Program in Humanitarian Response, a program funded by the European Union's Erasmus Mundus program and coordinated by a consortium of seven African and European universities.

The trip is part of the activities of the International Summer School promoted by the University of Cabo Verde (Uni-CV), in partnership with the University of Santiago (US), and lasts for three days.

The national coordinator of the master's program, Odair Barros Varela, said that the project integrates institutions such as the University of Cape Verde, the University of Santiago and the University of Ruvuma (Mozambique), in addition to European universities such as the University of Athens (Greece) and institutions in Portugal and Norway.

He explained that the programme involves students of various nationalities from Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America, with the aim of studying and preparing responses to extreme events such as volcanic eruptions, armed conflicts, pandemics and other humanitarian challenges.
