Porto Novo: Minister's visit opens "prospects for strengthening" culture, youth and sport – local authority

Porto Novo, June 24 (Inforpress) – The visit of the Minister of Culture, Creative Industries, Youth and Sport to the municipality of Porto Novo, Santo Antão, opens up “prospects for strengthening” these sectors, the Porto Novo city council announced today.

António Duarte is visiting Porto Novo to attend the festivities of the patron saint, and has met with the municipal executive to discuss "various challenges, projects and perspectives for strengthening" the areas under his responsibility.

The Mayor of Porto Novo, Elisa Pinheiro, was delighted with this visit, the first by António Duarte as Minister of Culture, Creative Industries, Youth and Sport, which takes place at a time when Porto Novo is celebrating the São João festivities.

The elevation of the São João Baptista festivities to intangible cultural heritage of humanity and the completion of the national pilgrimage museum, whose works have been halted since 2014, are projects that the municipality has in its portfolio in the cultural field.
