Praia City, June 22 (Inforpress) - The national football team coach, Bubista, stated on Sunday that the Tubarões Azuis represent much more than football, reflecting the identity, culture and values of the Cape Verdean people at the 2026 World Cup.
In an interview with Rádio TV Cidade after the draw (2-2) against the Uruguayan national team, Pedro Brito, known in the football world as Bubista, stressed that the archipelago's historic presence in the biggest showcase of global football goes beyond sporting results, functioning as a platform for promoting the country's music and image.
“As I said before, we are also here to show our country to the world. It's not just in terms of the football we play, it's in terms of everything, our culture, our music, our fans in the stadium. Our team is the identity of our people,” the national coach proudly stated.
Bubista praised Uruguay's competitive level, classifying it as a world power with athletes who impose high intensity, but stressed that Cabo Verde entered the field determined to compete on equal terms.
