Researcher wants to implement smart agriculture project in Cabo Verde to increase production

Mindelo, 15 June (Inforpress) – Estanislau Lima, a lecturer at the Atlantic Technical University (UTA), plans to implement a smart farming project in Cabo Verde, which consists of using information technology tools to make agriculture more productive and efficient.

The information was given to the press by Estanislau Lima, on the occasion of the presentation, in Mindelo, of the project called Ap-Byte, developed in partnership with universities in the Canary Islands, an archipelago that already has experience in the area of smart agriculture.

According to the researcher, Cabo Verde faces major challenges, particularly regarding water scarcity, lack of rain, limited agricultural land, pests, and also decision-making regarding the most suitable types of crops.

He explained, therefore, that the project aims to provide a solution that combines the use of artificial intelligence with remote sensing tools.
