Praia, June 5 (Inforpress) – The city of Praia will host from 17 to 19 June the second edition of the International Fado Festival in Cabo Verde, which returns to the country with concerts, conferences and a documentary screening dedicated to this Portuguese musical genre.
According to the event organiser, Frederico Carmo, the festival was created in 2011 when it was realised that there was no festival dedicated to this musical genre.
“We started in Madrid in 2011 and since then we have expanded to several cities and destinations, and we are currently present in 21 cities worldwide,” he continued, explaining that each year the festival addresses a different theme. This year’s theme is “Fado and the Neighbourhoods”.
“We launched the festival in Cabo Verde for the first time last year. We held the first edition, which went very well. We are very pleased to be in Cabo Verde, especially because of the ties that exist between our two countries,” he said.
