Praia, June 5 (Inforpress) – The Director-General of the Cabo Verde Diplomatic Institute (IDCV), António Nascimento, argued today that the archipelago should continue to guide its external action through its own agenda, preserving its ability to define its strategic interests.

António Nascimento made the remarks to Inforpress on the occasion of the launch of the book “Foreign Policy, Diplomacy and International Dynamics”, taking place this afternoon in Praia. The publication was organised by career diplomats Nilton Fernandes Cardoso, Giliardo Nascimento and António Nascimento and published under the IDCV imprint.

According to the diplomat, the main challenges Cabo Verde faces in the current international context are related to economic development, cybersecurity and transformations in the international system, including the fragility of multilateralism and international law.

In this regard, he argued that Cabo Verde should continue to guide its external action through its own agenda, preserving its ability to define its strategic interests in the face of growing competition among powers and the emergence of new global agendas.
