Orlando Mascarenhas highlights the evolution of Cape Verdean football and the social impact of the Tubarões Azuis

Praia, June 5 (Inforpress) – The president of the Cape Verdean Olympic Academy, Orlando Mascarenhas, stated today that the national team’s current success is the result of collective work carried out over decades, emphasizing the role of football as a factor of social cohesion.

The former leader of the Cape Verdean Football Federation (FCF) highlighted the evolution of Cape Verdean football, considering that the recent achievements of the Tubarões Azuis reflect a path built collectively over many years.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 5th INCT International Football Colloquium, taking place in Praia, he stressed that the success of the national team cannot be attributed to a single period or individual, but rather to a continuous process involving administrators, coaches, players and sports institutions.

Orlando Mascarenhas emphasized the contribution of former national coach Lúcio Antunes, noting that he played “a decisive role at important moments in the team’s development,” particularly in strengthening the squad and improving competitive performance in international competitions.
