Luís Filipe Tavares available to lead the MpD

Praia, 3 June (Inforpress) – The vice-president of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), Luís Filipe Tavares, today expressed his willingness to lead the party, stating that he is always ready to serve the country and the Government in any role.

Luís Filipe Tavares spoke to the press after the audience granted by the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, to the parties with parliamentary seats, before the appointment, this afternoon, of the new prime minister, elected in the legislative elections of May 17th.

"I will always be available to serve the Government, in any role, always available," stated Luís Filipe Tavares, who has previously served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Defense.

When questioned about criticism related to some appointments within the electoral process for the party leadership, the leader stated that the MpD is "not focused" on commenting on criticism or issuing opinions on this matter.
