Praia, 28 May (Inforpress) — João Farias, Secretary for Fisheries in Bragança (Brazil), stated that managing the Cape Verdean vessel that ran aground in Brazil entails high costs, constant monitoring and increasing risks due to sea conditions and a lack of local infrastructure.

João Farias, who is in charge of the vessel, contacted Inforpress to explain the additional costs associated with the vessel owned by Leny Martins, highlighting expenses, the need for constant surveillance and operational difficulties on site.

He reported that, as soon as the vessel was spotted, he contacted the Maritime Police, the Fire Brigade, the Civil Police, the Military Police and the Coroner’s Office.

We already had a case where a boat was found with bodies on board. There have been many bodies found here in our region,” he said, adding that during that time two men claiming to be the boat’s owners came forward, one from São Paulo and the other from Pará.
