Praia, May 28 (Inforpress) –Today, the President of the Republic stated that creoleness represents a message of “memory, diversity, dialogue and future”, and defended the promotion of Creole languages and the strengthening of peace and cooperation among peoples.
José Maria Neves made the remarks at the opening of the International Meeting on Atlantic Creoleness, taking place at the University of Cabo Verde (Uni-CV) under the theme “Building bridges, creating a better future”.
The Head of State stressed that creoleness should be understood as a space for reconnection among peoples and cultures shaped by centuries of circulation and exchange across the Atlantic, advocating an approach based on equality and dialogue among communities.
In an international context marked by “ruptures and ambiguities”, with conflicts, climate change and weaknesses in multilateralism, the President warned of the need to promote “a de-racialised, violence-free and more humane world”.
