Praia, May 28 (Inforpress) – UNTC-CS today urged the Government, on World Women’s Health Day, to make “greater investment” in the National Health System and revise public policies, highlighting women’s health as “crucial and highly important”.
Speaking to Inforpress in a statement marking the date, the National Union of Cabo Verdean Workers – Central Trade Union (UNTC-CS) argued that women’s health is a fundamental right linked to human dignity, gender equality and sustainable development.
Although recognising historic progress in the country, especially in sexual and reproductive health, family planning and childbirth assistance, the trade union organisation warned of the persistence of “serious structural challenges”.
Among the main concerns raised by the union confederation is inadequate prevention, prompting calls for improved early diagnosis of breast cancer, cervical cancer, diabetes and hypertension.
