São Lourenço dos Órgãos aims to turn its tourism potential into a source of local income

João Teves, 27 May (Inforpress) – Today in São Lourenço dos Órgãos, tour operators, the local council and the Santiago Tourism Association called for a joint strategy to turn the local tourism potential into a sustainable source of income for families and small businesses.

This position was put forward during a meeting between local businesses and the Santiago Tourism Association (ATS), held at the São Lourenço dos Órgãos Interpretation Centre, as part of the association’s tour of the island’s municipalities.

Speaking to the press, ATS President Mário Sanches stated that the aim of the initiative is to gain a better understanding of the tourist resources available in each municipality and to bring the association closer to local operators.

According to that official, São Lourenço dos Órgãos has significant potential in the areas of nature tourism, ecotourism and gastronomy – areas which, in his view, should be turned into tangible benefits for the local communities.
