Praia, Jun 5 (Inforpress) – Air pollution in Cabo Verde is not a serious problem, but the existing framework requires precautions to ensure that the air is breathed is of good quality, and several measures are already in progress.
These considerations were made by the national director of the Environment (DNA), Alexandre Nevsky Rodrigues, in statements to Inforpress in the context of the celebration of the World Environment Day (June 5), which this year is marked under the theme “air pollution”.
Alexandre Rodrigues says that in Cabo Verde there are still no big polluters like the big industries, but he says the problem is global and also a concern in Cabo Verde.
“Air pollution is a worldwide concern. The latest data indicate that nine out of 10 people breathe polluted air and pollution is responsible for one of every 9 deaths occurring worldwide. This means that it will have to be a concern for everyone and also for Cabo Verde”, he said.
