Porto Novo, Dec 26 (Inforpress) – The inter-municipal water and sanitation company, Águas de Santo Antão, and the Regional Development Society (Sodesa) are “two goals” that this island hopes to achieve in 2020, the mayors of Santo Antão believe.
The mayor of Ribeira Grande, Orlando Delgado, said he believed that these two purposes, namely the creation of Águas de Santo Antão and Sodesa, will be materialized over the next year, with Government’s “support”.
For the inter-municipal water and sanitation company, a feasibility study is being finalized, which will result from the merger of the three autonomous water and sanitation services, which will be presented in January.
The National Water and Sanitation Agency (ANAS) will guarantee technical assistance to the three municipalities in the creation of this company, which is part of the process for the business development of the water sector in Santo Antão, which, according to this agency, constitutes “the largest challenge” for this island.
The mayor of Porto Novo, Aníbal Fonseca, said that the municipalities of Santo Antão are very keen to have the company Águas de Santo Antão set up “as soon as possible”, predicting that in the first half of 2020, this “desiderate” is realized.
