Praia, Aug 12 (Inforpress) – The women’s basketball team won its first game at Afrobasket 2019 on Sunday, beating Kenya’s side 64-57.
Cabo Verde has been ahead of the scoring since the start of the game, with the first half winning 16-12 and the second half 32-23.
Already in the third period the national women’s team commanded the match with 53-37, having closed the match in the fourth period with the result of 64-57.
The Cabo Verdean international Ornela Livramento was named the MVP of this game with a total of 11 points, six rebots, five assists and three steals, while Alexia Barros was the top scorer with 19 points, followed by captain Jade Piglet with 17 points. Cabo Verde’s next match is against the counterpart of Mozambique, with the eyes set on moving to the second round.
