AFA observers consider Sunday’s elections were conducted under globally satisfactory conditions and in a peaceful environment

Praia, May 20 (Inforpress) – The international electoral observation mission of the Association Femmes en Action (AFA) considered today that Cabo Verde’s May 17 legislative elections were conducted under “globally satisfactory” conditions, in an environment of “peace, responsibility and stability”.

The assessment was made during a press conference held to present the mission’s preliminary statement.

Composed of four observers, the team arrived in Praia before the elections with the aim of monitoring the pre-electoral context, observing preparations related to the organisation of the elections and assessing the overall voting environment.

During its activities, the mission met with several stakeholders in the electoral process, including the National Electoral Commission (CNE), representatives of political parties and various institutional actors involved in the elections.
