Praia, Jun 26 (Inforpress) – The minister of Culture and Creative Industries, Abraão Vicente, said that the valorization of the historical site of Cidade Velha is a “national design” and an unavoidable commitment to future generations.
In his message to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Cidade Velha, a World Heritage Site, which is being marked today, Abrãao Vicente, who is also president of the UNESCO National Commission, highlighted the role of the State, population, organizations, and preservation of this historic site.
“Our mission as a State has been to protect and value the historical and heritage legacy of Cidade Velha to remember the mestizo ancestry and perpetuate a commonplace, where universal history converges and the community recognizes itself”, he said.
For the ruler, nowadays, with everything that is known about the discovery of the islands, the settlement and its development, the challenge is its preservation, not only by the State, but by all the Cabo Verdeans.
