Dentist defends bet on oral health literacy and improvement in public health in Cabo Verde

Praia, Oct 3 (Inforpress) – Dentist Carmelinda Gonçalves acknowledged today that the oral health of Cabo Verdeans has improved, but defended the need to focus on oral health literacy and improvement in public health in the country.

Carmelinda Gonçalves, who is also president of the Dentists Association of Cabo Verde, made these statements to Inforpress, in the context of World Dentist Day which is celebrated today, considering that the date is very important because it marks the existence of a class has been working for more than three thousand years.

“Cabo Verde, a few years ago only had a dentist, but now has more than a hundred and if we look the equipment were others, now we have better quality equipment, more important diagnostic means and we have professionals who are investing in their equipment”, she said, defending, however, a greater enhancement of the class.

She highlighted the importance of this profession which has evolved over the years, whose approach to patients has improved thanks to new techniques and new technologies, but stressed that it is a profession that entails some risks.
